Tribal populations generally have poor health outcomes, often because of a healthcare delivery system that does not cater to their needs. This study evaluates a current healthcare model for tribals, and explores it in combination with the health status of the target population, placing emphasis on the long term sustainability and cross-implementation of the model. The tribal systems of medicines connote diversity of cultural practices, traditional knowledge and social organizations. Therefore, there cannot be any one tribal system of medicines. Not only in treatment of diseases but also in nutritional status their culture is adversely affecting. Specifically tribal people are mostly depending on forest, so their nutritional status of health is lesser than others. Medical herbs and treatment of diseases and maintaining health are today the source of modern medicine. NGOs have done some remarkable work in these two fields. These are funded by the government under the grants-in aid provision. This book presents issues of concern in tribal health, nutrition and medicine.
