The uncontrolled exploitation of natural resources has created many ecological imbalances and deterioration in the quality of environment, leading to several environmental problems. These problems are further compounded by unprecedented population growth, industrial development and rapid urbanisation. This book attempts to study the process of urbanisation and its impact on environmental degeneration in India, with special reference to Bhopal region of Madhya Pradesh. Identifying the environmental problems of the region, it analyzes the impact of urban growth, industrialization, population characteristics, agricultural development and transportation on its environmental degeneration.
