Black Beauty The Autobiography of a Horse This novel, first published in 1877, recounts the different incidents in the life of Black Beauty, a horse. Describing many tales of cruelty and kindness that he met, it contains a lesson related to the kindness, sympathy and understanding treatment of horses. Although not originally intended as a children's novel, it soon became a children's classic. With over 50 million copies sold, it is one of the best-selling books of all time.
