The present study has been divided into nine chapters. The first chapter depicts the regional setting, physical basis of its geo-economic personality. The second chapter discusses the concept of rural development and various developmental programmes. Third chapter is considered to gauge the transformation of sample villages. Chapter four is devoted to study various aspects of socio-economic transformation. The fifth chapter explains the transformation of agricultural environment. Chapter six deals with transformation of infrastructural facilities. Efforts have been made to evaluate the transformation of living environment in the seventh chapter. Detailed study of rural habitat and its people has been presented in the eighth chapter. Summary and conclusions have been presented in the ninth chapter.The study of this delightful volume will be at once rewarding, illuminating and enriching as it would arouse interest in geographers, sociologists, economists, and scholars of rural habitat transformation as well as rural development planners.
